What language do you speak?
Movie plot?
Book?
Sunset?
Lilac?
Your wife’s smile?
Cat?
Natures beauty?
What language do you speak?
Listen,
God speaks it too.

GOD SPEAKS IT TOO

Jerusalem Is Walking in the World
February 27, 2008This is a great happiness.
The air is silk.
There is milk in the looks
that come from strangers.
I could not be happier
if I were bread and you could eat me.
Joy is dangerous.
It fills me with secretes.
“Yes” hisses in my veins.
The pains I take to hide myself
are sheer as glass.
Surely this will pass,
the wind like kisses,
the music in the soup,
the group of trees,
laughing as I say their names. It is all hosanna.
It is all prayer.
Jerusalem is walking in the world.
Jerusalem is walking in the world.

Sheila’s Poem
February 19, 2008To Torey with much
‘LOVE’The rest came
they tried to make me laugh
they played games with me
some games for fun and some
for real and for keeps.
And then they went away
leaving me in the ruin of the games
not knowing which were for fun
and which were for keeps and
leaving me alone with the echo
of laughter which was not mine. Then you came
with your funny way of being
not quite human
and you made me cry.
And you didn’t seem to mind if i did
you just said that the games are over
and waited
until all my tears turned into
Joy.
This poem comes from a book called One Child about a young girl called Shiela whose life is greatly influenced for the better by her teacher Torey Hayden, who wrote the book, and so after the events of the book she sent this poem to Torey in response to what Torey did for her. For me this poem really touches on part of what God is and does in our lives.
