Grace Notes

July 3, 2009

A composer of music may add grace notes to the score. Though not essential to the melody–the are gratuitous–these notes add a flourish whose presence would be missed.

A quote from What’s so amazing about Grace by Philip Yancey p. 12. I like the quote because it adds to what grace is.

Whats so Amazing About Grace

June 12, 2009

One book that I like that looks at the subject of Grace is What’s So Amazing about Grace by Philip Yancey. Yancey’s approach to the subject is very accessable; he uses stories which always helps me to access a subject more fully. Take a look at it and discover a bit more about the shape of Grace.

Grace Named

June 5, 2009

Grace is one of my favourite names. When I encounter someone called Grace I feel happy. For me, its as if some of God’s goodness toward us is walking around reminding us of it; it is like God’s encouragement in the flesh.

In the series Joan of Arcadia one of Joan’s friends is called Grace. A great name for this character because at first glance Joan would not have considered her someone to be friends with, but in this person she finds a real friend (and her brother, a girlfriend). A gift. Whenever this character appears on the show I feel happy.

Grace/Kindred Spirits

May 29, 2009

I have been thinking about what categories I might include in this blog. I have come up with a few ideas. One category will be Grace, posting on the subject of Grace; Why include this category? Because grace is a wonderful thing, is all can say for now, and hopefully Grace will take shape more fully via my posts; another category will be Kindred Spirits which will consist of quotes from Lucy Maude Montgomerys books that view the christian spiritual through a lense that is similar to mine and also posts from other sources whose christian spiritual lense is close to my own
